Steering column

Asked by Lisa03 Nov 17, 2018 at 10:10 AM about the 2003 Ford Explorer XLT V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the
steering column in
my 2003 Ford
Explorer.  I had to
unplug everything
around that
area....steering
column and steering
wheel...during the
removal/installation
process.
I can't remember
where some of the
plugs go.
My car will not turn
over to crank.  My
gears are not aligned
either.  Help?  I think
I just need some
tweeking.

A 3/8 ratchet set, breaker bar, floor jack if you don't have help, 3/8 extension..... You will also need to see what it takes to remove your drive shaft as well.... You may need some type of pry bar for your shifter linkage as well... Depends on what style it is... If you can't remember where your wiring harness plugs back up take a pic of it or draw you a diagram.... Just tear into it. An pay attention to everything you do... It's really alot easier than you think... If you run into some trouble I'd be willing to help you some more if you need it
