2004 Ford Explorer won't crank. Everything else works

Asked by Bpreston Jan 31, 2015 at 04:50 PM about the 2004 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just replaced the thermostat housing on my 2004 Ford Explorer 4.0 eng. I cleaned the
engine with pressure washer then dried everything with compressed air. It started right up
and ran fine. I shut if off and restarted several times over a 1hr period. No problems. Now
after another 20 mins. It will not crank and the engine service lite and wrench lite are
flashing rapidly.

Is the temperature sending unit part of the thermostat housing on the 2004 v6? It is on the 2003. When I replaced mine I had to use a screwdriver to knock out the bottom plug on the hole where it is inserted.
