2005 Ford Explorer XLT Idle issue

My 2005 Ford Explorer has a strange problem. The idle cuts out or drops and just before
the engine dies, it catches. This only happens after driving it a significant amount of time
and the engine is warm, and then starting it again. It doesn't happen every time either.
Please help as I would like to try to fix this issue myself. I can't get a mechanic to look at it
because they tell me that they can't diagnose the issue if it doesn't happen every time.

All due respect tysonailshie it's even harder from a million miles away behind a keyboard. But have an OBDII scan done. Is the CEL on> Check Engine? Even if it's not a scan may find something, if done by somebody that actually knows how to use a scanner, and not just pull codes. They can read fuel trims, see if it's right.... measure manifold vacuum for unusual changes..maybe eliminate a lot of guessing

The problem lies in the wiring. It is either engine harness or the earthing is not proper.

No the check engine light isn't on. I forgot to mention that with the blend door actuator out the air blows cold. I just find it funny that there is 14 volts there. I wish I knew how that motor works. Is the temperature dial just a resistor?
