1966 Mustang - Starts, drives but after a few miles it will shutdown with no power at all.

Asked by rono5440 Aug 07, 2016 at 08:45 PM about the 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can start the car cold and head down the road then it will just shutdown sometimes 5 miles other times 20 miles with no power at all, no lights, no nothing, after a bit power magically returns. New battery and cables, new starter relay. I'm at a loss?

Ignition Control Module gets hot and shuts down then starts to work again when cooled down.
