I saw a 1985 GT it said 5.5 on it. What does that mean?

What does the 5.5 badge mean? does it have a 351 or a 5.0 5 speed?

5.5 is closer to 351 piston swept area displacement. The five speed if it WAS a manual or stick or a simple change to automatic on a 1979 era 302 & or 5 liter rounded up was change the Pilate bearing.
