why wont my truck start and there are no dashlights, no turn signals, nothing.

Asked by tammiethenurse Jan 24, 2014 at 01:59 PM about the 2007 Ford Explorer Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got hit in the rearend almost 2 months ago. Took it in to be fixed. All they had to do is
replace the bumper. They call me and ask if I have a spare key. Said the truck won't
start. Take in spare, they come out and say the battery cables were a little coroded.
Cleaned them and truck started. I go to leave and I have no dash lights, no turn signals,
nothing. Take it back in and they come out and say its not starting again. Had me leave
it. Won't really tell me what is wrong. Just keep insisting it was nothing they did. My
truck was just fine before I took it there. Never have had any problems at all.

If not turning over at all it's probably a combination of loose/corroded battery connections and a low charge on the battery. I would double check the connections and also fully charge the battery. If they had the doors open when working on the truck the battery is probably not at its peak performance level.

Instrument cluster has failed. See Ford's TSB 06-10-7 for testing.
