Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 ford escape xlt with a blown engine
and want to have it swapped. There are two types
of engines (water pump driven by exhaust camshaft
and water pump driven by intake camshaft). Are
these engines interchangeable and if not, how do I
know which one is which?

I believe there were three engine available - the 2.0 Zetec, the 2.3 and 3.0 Duratec. You need to use the same engine as what you have now.

Hello, there are two types of 3.0 V6 engines, the waterpump drive seems to be the difference (exhaust or intake driven). Cost and availability vary, that’s the reason I wanted to know if they are interchangeable and what other modems this is compatible with.

There are several versions of your engine. You probably have a RFF version. Use the exact same thing as what you have now as there may be other differences that could bite you in the ass later.

If you have the VVT version it would be even more important not to switch versions.

you need to look at water pump to see what cam it runs off of, you can not exchange these engines.
