My 2007 chev impala  has a reduce power light that came on, the car will only
move at the speed of five to ten miles per hour.I had it checked,i was told that i
need a new computer.The ECM is only puting out 5 volts.Could this just be that
i need a new battery  Billiebat1

5 volts is the reference voltage, that's normal, much higher and it starts frying sensors, was the system live data scanned? I think you need another opinion. Who knows it could be a bad ECM or sensor ground causing all the trouble.

Tennisshoes Thanks for your help on the 2007 chevrolet impala I bought a new battery.Some how the car seems to be working,the check eng light went out .The car starts and will run no lights came on.Now i am afraid to drive to far because i dont wont to get stuck on the highway.Sure hope i solved the problem Sagaris

I would still do a "live data" scan. It might be a good idea to buy a a really good scanner, I use an Innovia 3160d
