Overheating

Asked by Jennifer May 23, 2016 at 08:43 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My SUV has recently started overheating. At
thought it was just low coolant and added 1/2
gallon then it looked low again and added the other
half. Now it is overfull and getting fuller everytime I
drive it. Both fans are kicking on. I don't leak
antifreeze or Smell it.

having excess antifreeze is just as not having enough. it could be your thermostat, it was not opening when it was getting hot to circulate so you filled the radiator and the reserve. now it is over filled and you still have the problem. Check the thermostat.

07 equinox runs hot stopped primarily, water pump seal blew so replaced and did stant thermostat at same time.. still overheating--however, discovered top of radiator is hot, but only cold air blowing out of lower primary fan!!! lower radiator core stays cooler to the touch while top is HOT (can't touch).. kick on AC to activate upper cooling fan and it blows tons of hot air while bottom still cool/cold..--this says to me --LOWER radiator is clogged up with scale or something and no coolant is getting through that part of it.. will know more once new radiator arrives and I dissect old one!! --BET it fixes the issue though!!!
