Temp Gauge says I'm overheating

Asked by 97Integra668 Feb 10, 2016 at 11:47 PM about the 1997 Acura Integra GS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 97 Integra blew my radiator when I say in a
parking lot idling and cracked right through the
plastic trim on top of the radiator. I replaced my
radiator and my engine coolant temp sensor and
now it runs a bit better bit once my temp gauge
hits the middle it slowly makes its way to the red
line. It sometimes goes back to the middle or cold
area bit will always and up on the red line and I'm
what's causing it. The engine does not overheat at
all but the coolant may seem to. I did put only put
straight water in it for now temporarily but can that
really cause it to overheat as well?

Oh yes. need a 50/50 mix. Also make sure the air is purged from the system when refilling. This sounds like it hadn't ben done.
