2007 Tucson: How do I re-attach battery cable

375

Asked by billybob567 Jul 02, 2014 at 09:49 AM about the 2007 Hyundai Tucson GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I removed the positive cable from the battery to clean it. Had to remove a 10 mm nut,
then use a puller to remove the outer cap and then pried up on the inner cap that had a
small bolt sticking out of it. Never seen this kind of connection before...bizarre. Cleaned
the corrosion and tried to put everything back together but could not get top cap to
push down far enough over inner cap. Tried using a socket and hammer to persuade
the damn thing but no luck. Anybody have better luck?

Any way you can post a picture? I have never seen anything like you describe...a side-post battery? You may have pulled a part of the terminal of the battery that was not supposed to come off.

First the link re-directed to an ACDelco page about air pumps, so I tried again, just highlighted and opened and now it just goes to Google..maybe something wrong on my end

I found the following link to youtube where a mechanic from 1aauto.com is demonstrating how to do it. I guess I should just use the 10 mm nut to tighten the outer cap down. I will give it a go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbAUiIYGvBo
