On many of the more expensive cars, you can buy a maintenance package from the dealer to cover normal maintenance items for the first 50,000 miles. Your costs are locked in. The cost vary by make and model because they have different requirements.

The Audi A6/A7 maintenance package (Audi Care) can be bought for $820. It covers the four 10,000 mile maintenance visits (15, 25, 35, 45,000 mile). It is a 30% saving over today's flat rate charges. Porsche should have a similar program.

If you go to RockAuto.com and get your oil filters, and then go to WalMart to buy 9 qts of MobilOne or Pennsoil Platinum you can do an oil change for $75. A dealer will charge at least twice that, maybe more. Spark plugs and air filters...Rock Auto. Spark plugs are a chore but anybody can do them with common mechanics tools. Remember you control maintenance and doing it yourself is rewarding in itself. Good luck! 944/911 owner.

If you are concerned about maintenance you should just go buy a Buick. An oil change costs over $150 for this car, you cant buy a Cayman and worry about maintenance costs. This car is solidly built, but look at it like this 0 you just bought an expensive girlfriend that likes to spend your money, enjoy it for what it is!

Shrugitoff, That is quite possibly the worst advice I've ever seen. No matter what car I buy, I consider ALL aspects of the cost of ownership. Not everyone who buys a Porsche is rich. Not to mention your absurd "you just bought a girlfriend" analogy. Get real!

I know. Ask a question and get some lame anseers.. i wonder if his mom was one of those chicks. Fwiw, i haveca e90 m3 and its not bad. The oil change is 200 but its good for 8000 miles. Plus it uses special racing oil. But thrn again its a "buick" compared to his porsche.

Budget 1 k for normal visits, may it be oil change or just changing the air filter cabin, every time you think your car needs work expect at least minimum to spend 1 grand, it is almost the same for all luxury brand that is not Japanese or American. You can do the work yourself but it will require tools out of your ordinary tools a normal person would have in his/her arsenal. A Porsche is specially unique in so many ways compared to others and an owner has to be prepared for the extra price of ownership and not just the purchase. So far the only way to circumnavigate around the cost of maintenance is be really be hands on to doing the maintenance yourself and even that the cost of the parts are more costly.
