Oil pressure guage not working

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently bought a 1999 Corvette with a few issues. One of my main concerns is  the oil pressure gauge not working. The needle does operate when key is turned on, but when started it is pegged to the max; and when I scroll through the settings, the gauge reading is  125+ psi, or so. Any suggestions out there on possible oil gauge sensors, switches, etc; to check or replace first, before I take to the shop. Thanks for any input I can get......... Kmac, again.

The wire going to the oil pressure sender may be grounded.

Thanks for the input, good thing is it was only the oil sender switch, bad thing is once they got it out, it took a couple hours to get it threaded back in. Major nightmare to replace, over 300 in labor, and the sender, 99 bucks. But it's in, and got oil pressure gauge back, and all working now. Good to know what the motor is doing..... Yaaaa !!!
