Most likely one of the little plastic clips that hold on the rod for the latch rod broke, you will need to take of the door panel to find out what one broke and then replace it, and put the door panel back on.

So will it be a easy task for someone to do and should it cost much.

That all depends on where you have it done, most independent shops will be cheaper than a dealership, this one of those two bit part causing a 100 dollar repair.

Okay you are saying the part is not expensive. Okay i will look around to where i can go or see if I know someone that will help me. Thanks for the information. I wont go to a dealership for sure

right if it is just the clip it runs about 75 cents at your local parts store.

Okay thanks. What would your guess be if it was something else

The only other thing that pops right now would be a broken latch handle, the inside one, sometimes the little ear snaps right off.

Apparently this is planned obsolescence from Kia. I have the same exact problem in my 2007 Spectra. Lame.

on my coworkers 2007 Spectra, the actual Rod broke....

I'm having the same issue with my 07 Spectra. Replaced the driver side inner door handle cable and the door still isn't opening. I'm at a loss of what to do at this point.

Why is it so hard to find a replacement part for an 08 Kia Spectra locking door actuator for the driver rear side.. I looked everywhere online only coulf fine rear passenger side. Are they the same part for both sides

It's not a rod it's a cable. Now what? To all who said, "little clip that connects top rod" or whatever you guessed. Take off a door panel before spreading miss information folks.

Odd it was a rod on mine that I had only briefly as those cars are junk and only got it cause I could make some quick cash.
