SOS, what is necessary to change a completely dead battery for a 2005 range rover

My car has sat in the garage for close to a year and when we went to open and the key
didn't work so did so manually then tried start it and the key would go in but couldn't turn
it...completely dead ;-(!

Thanks Tom. I took your advice and replaced the battery, everything flicked on like a charm.
