swapping engines on a GAS range rover 2002 to a DIESEL 2010 one

Asked by gregory0305 Aug 27, 2013 at 02:41 AM about the 2002 Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello all... i'm new here... i'm purchasing a 2002 Range Rover based on "i love the look and ride"... however... i hate the gas mileage.  I have the opportunity to pick up a 2010 4.4 diesel range rover motor (Ford) for a great deal... (get's good mileage) however, will that new diesel 4,4L v8 FIT where my current gas guzzling v8 is now? (i'm sure i'll need to fabricate the motor mounts, but, how can i know if it will fit under the hood or not? thanks!!

It is probably not a great idea to do it on a smog required car.
