Front drive shaft won't separate front flange.

Replacing the front drive shaft on '03 Discovery II.  All eight nuts and bolts removed and
the front (differential) end came away easily.  But at the gear box end the mating flanges
simply will not separate.  I've sprayed it with penetrating oil several times, tried to get a
wedge between the flange plates, and tried to knock it loose with a hammer.  The Hookes
joint is shattered so not too worried about that, but don't want to damage the flange plate
on the fear box.  Any ideas?

I recently purchased a 2003 Land Rover Disco 2 SE7, myself, and thought I would take a "stab" at answering your question. I purchased a 3-piece "Jaw Puller Kit" from "Harbor Freight" very cheaply, just for this type of problem, should it present itself in the future. Hope this helps.
