Alternator ? Battery?? or soemthing else

Asked by Guru545JC Dec 15, 2017 at 05:12 PM about the 2006 INFINITI G35 Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drove my Infiniti 80 miles on Sunday evening, around town Monday, then let it sit Tuesday, Wednesday I went out and it started right up drove to the gas station and then it wouldn't start. Totally dead, not even the clicking noise of trying to start. Kids jumped me, drove it home, turned it off tried to re start. completely dead.

This had happened once before about a month ago, and Id thought the positive cable to the battery was way too loose so I added a "cap" tot he post and secured the cable again, no problem until yesterday?

Is the alternator intermittently working? or is there something that is slowly draining the battery ??  why would it start right up and then two miles later be totally dead

sounds like a battery issue but i would first check the " add on " cap you installed to make sure there is no corrosion,if thats the problem install a proper battery cable end.
