battery drainage

Asked by GWCooke Mar 07, 2015 at 08:31 PM about the 2006 INFINITI G35 Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced my battery and still after 3 or4 hours it will not start.  Mechanics say the
radio is killing the battery.  I have read this is common in G35 Sedans, I have a 2006 and
wonder what it will cost to repair and are there any factory recalls?

Remove fuse going to the radio and have someone check amperage draw at the battery should be less than 2amps please email me back at gumpy1rp@gmail.com

Pull radio fuse, connect a car battery charger and check power draw when battery is drained and then again after 3-4 hours of being charged. Normal radios don't draw that much power unless you've added external amplifiers, etc. I suspect the starter or starter solenoid have gone bad.

From my research this is a common issue with cars that have CD changers in the trunk draining the battery. If you have one of those try unplugging it.

I have a 2007 Infiniti G35X. About 6 weeks ago after work, I went out to my car and there was no response at all to my wireless remote. I had to use the manual emergency key to open the doors. The car was completely dead. I had the car jumped, tested the alternator which was good and replaced the battery.Three weeks later the same thing happened after the car had sat for 3 days. Car completely dead.Had it jumped and then had a mechanic disconnect the trunk CD changer from the advice I have seen here. The mechanic let the car sit for 3 days and checked it with a multimeter and the drain was gone.Everything OK now as I never use the trunk CD player and had no use for it. I'm just wondering how come out of the blue the trunk CD player starting causing battery drain ?

I had the same issue with my 08 Infiniti G35x. Had to end up pulling the fuse to the over head lights and electric seats. Issue solved. No problems since. Hope this helps someone.
