Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I keep my 2005 C6 vette garaged. I dont drive it often but start it up ever now and then in the winter. Wiht the warmer weather coming, I knew It needed to get serviced.

After driving it for about 15 mins I noticed something didnt feel quite right about the ride. The Service Active Handling System Warning came on. A few minutes later The Transmission began making a grinding noise when accelerating. Stopping at red lights had me in full out panic because the grinding was so bad i thought the engine was going to fall out. Immediately I got another warning that said "Transmision Hot, Engine Idle.

At first it would only make the grinding noise when I stopped and acceperated. At this point, I barely made it to a parking lot before it seems my transmission gave out. I cut the car off and let it cool for about an hour. I came back and started it up, put in in drive and the grinding noise came back. I could only go in reverse.

help? New Transmission needed?

try a fluid and filter change at the dealer or a reputable service shop.. if no improvement then see why the fluid overheats. there could be a blockage in the x-mission cooler, pump, or something.
