1994 Loyale engine stops

Asked by nakish Dec 15, 2011 at 09:48 AM about the 1994 Subaru Loyale 4 Dr STD 4WD Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1994 Loyale that will shut down on me as if I turn the key off but will start again immediately. Acts like an electrical short. Any ideas?  Thanks

Could be 2 issues or more the most prominent being a bad ignition switch ( the part behind where your key cylinder is) and the other is a condition called "dieseling", this is caused by bad timing like the disributer is off or your timming belt is off by a degree or two. There could be several other reasons but this is where I would start.
