i had a 1999 saab 9-3, when it got up there in miles, mine had similar problems. i took it to the dealer and the only explanation i was able to get was that it had a short somewhere or that a fuse in the gauge cluster had blown. neither of those explanations really helped much. it sucks that saab was sold to gm.. the mechanics seem to have a difficult time with the "pre-american" saabs
