Engine or transmission skip

I have a 2006 mountianner v8 that at the speed of
anywhere from 50 to 60 mph if im not using my
cruise control or have to go up hill or slow down
and then back on the gas it wants to skip but only
between 50-60 or it will skip the wheels and the
check engine light will flash if i have to get on it a
bit like going down the interstate.

Have your trans checked. Is it an AWD vehicle? Mine is and it has a similar, but slightly different problem. It will stutter when going about 50-60 and bounce between high gear and overdrive. Doesn't happen at any other speed. I had it looked at by a reputable shop and was told that this year had a history of trans problems only solved by replacing the trans. I solved it by taking it out of overdrive when driving at that speed and turning it back on when I get above about 55.
