Why is my break lights working but my car tells me its out when i hit the break?

When i hit the break my car tells me my right tail light is out
but it only happens when i use my head lights i check them
and there is nothing wrong

When your headlights are off, have someone else stand behind your car. Step on your brakes. Ask person behind car if both lights came on. If they both came on, then turn on headlights. Ask person if both lights came on.
