I want to replace the low beam bulbs and ballasts on my 2005 xj8-L. I have factory Hid
set up so I bought an after market kit. too tight to get it done without taking out headlight
modules I think

Not sure what your question is??? If 3rd party kit is too tight, then naturally you will have to take out the modules. If they are a kit from a reliable source, they should fit without binding. Did you try any salvage yards? 2005's must be in supply now. Also, other year models fit the same unit.
