2006 Jaguar X-type

Asked by Az Aug 08, 2018 at 07:38 AM about the 2006 Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0L Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a very clean Jaguar X-Type which got caught
in heavy rain yesterday and a lot of water hitting
the undercarriage. Car ran fine home through the
water. Started it this morning and it shakes a bit.
Tried driving it and it wont go over 30, shakes, and
check engine light is blinking. Parked it and took a
lyft to work. Any ideas?

Same problem I have rite now and my engine runs hourly but temperature gauge is normal did you find out an answer bout this problem

Corrosion of the lips on the tappet/rocker cover can allow water to get in and short out one or more of the coil packs. Don't run engine in this state as will damage catalytic converter No 1 which is difficult to access and leaves engine light on. This happened to my 2008 X-type 2.1litre V6 (Australian version.) In my case it was degreasing and washing out engine bay that allowed water ingress to the coil packs. Expensive fix!!!

Had restricted performance 2x. Once was bad gas, 2nd time was also water in the gas after non stop rain all week. Dry gas fixed it both times.
