Starting engine

Asked by Sep 01, 2019 at 12:35 AM about the 2006 Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0L Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had trouble starting my car since it sat for two weeks while I recovered
from surgery.  I have to leave the key turned on for several moments before I
turn it to start. I have a new battery, which helps, but still hesitant to start first
thing. After it runs, its fine.  I just spent a bundle getting new fuel pumps
installed.

When you turn the ignition to ON, that engages the fuel pump. If you have to leave it on for that long, I'd suspect a fuel pump problem. Go back to the mechanic who did the fuel pump replacement and have him check this out.
