Anti theft system or th neutral cut off switch. Try starting it in the neutral position.

After a bit of tinkering myself, discovered it was a poor connection on the earth wire coming from the engine to the battery. The car starts, but some times it feels like the engine is not running properly. When I turn it off and start it again it's fine???
