Can I put any breaks on my 2002 jaguar x type are
do they have to be a certain brand

You MUST put brake pads that were made for the car and I would use ceramic only. The brand is not critical as long as they meet or exceed OEM specs.

Go to the local auto parts store and buy brakes made for your vehicle. I recommend the mid-grade parts and not the cheap ones.
