Petrol filler cap

Asked by T01709 Jul 12, 2013 at 05:29 AM about the 2002 Jaguar X-TYPE 2.5L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can anyone tell me how to get to the locking mechanism on the fuel filler cap. The plastic
locking barrel has popped in and it won't lock. Tried getting access through the boot but
no joy.

Since you have a Jaguar you must already have a good mechanic, residing in a reputable foreign/exotic/classic car garage- you don't?- then you should find one ASAP- this fuel filler problem is the kind of thing that is more cost effective to just have a pro do it- it won't cost much- your time and aggravation is surely better spent doing other things- when you take it in to that great shop- have them do an oil change and advise you as to the other needed maintenance
