Fuel Pump

Asked by Lazerfx1 Mar 14, 2018 at 08:59 AM about the 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 SL Standard Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Where can I find a diagram showing where the fuel
pump is located in relation to the truck bed. My
plan is to cut a hole in the truck bed directly over
the fuel pump in order to repair it.

The fuel pump itself is inside the fuel tank but you can get to it and remove it from the top of the tank. Get under the truck and look for the exact location of the tank. It will be necessary to cut the access panel on the floor of the bed. Please, be very careful when using and cutting instruments, a spark can create a disaster, even if you drain the fuel tank gasses are still inside.

lAzer if your truck has a bed lining you can remove it and undo the bolts that hold the bed on.IF you do you have direct access to the fuel pump without having to cut any hole or drop the fuel tank.but you will have to undo lines like electrical that go to the brake lights and other stuff but that the easiest way i know of how to get to the fuel pump without dropping the tank
