Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 91 Caprice with a 305 motor in it that won't
stay running. Everything is new on the car is as
follows: wires, spark plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter,
fuel pump, throttle position sensor, ignition
module, oil pressure switch, a couple relays, map
sensor, throttle body and injectors. There is more
that's new just can't remember it all now. What am I
missing? Why wont the car stay running? She is
getting  gas, air and spark! She'll crank up drink
what's in the bowl then it'll cut completely off!! I
don't know what's going on somebody help me!

Ignition switch?

How could it be that...... The car starts!!

When it quits and refuses to start again, what is missing? Spark or fuel? Try spraying some starting fluid down the throttle body. If it runs a few seconds on the starting fluid it's a fuel problem. If not, it's an ignition (no spark) problem. HTH. -Jim

my 91 caprice would stall while driving it and it would not start, this was the day after picking it up from a good repair shop who found nothing wrong. I own the factory service manual, yes about 600 pages. The problem was a failing pick up on the distributor shaft, replaced the distributor and the car sounded like it did 20 years ago. The point IS but a factory service manual,it gives step by step of what and how to test part by part to discover what to replace.
