Why is my car cutting off while driving and don't won't to crank right up?

Asked by Shortcake46 Dec 03, 2014 at 07:16 AM about the 2001 Chrysler Town & Country LX LWB FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car is a 2001 with 201,000 miles on it.  It has a hard time cranking.  While I'm driving, it will stall out anywhere, anytime.  It has been happening mostly when the weather is wet or really cold but now it is starting to happen pretty regular no matter the weather.  It will cut back and sometimes restart like it isn't getting the gas as well.  The engine light comes on and stays on now.  We changed the alternator, and batter for another problem and then got this one.  What is it most likely and how much will it cost?

Most likely it's a simple matter of taking the car to Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them read the code for free.

BoholMark is right start with the codes. Any vehicle with 200,000 miles on it is bound to have mechanical and electrical issues. It could be as simple as a tune up, fuel filter, fuel pump or a sensor. Good evening Mark.

Could be as simple as new spark plug wires especially if you are only having problems in wet and cold weather. Plug wires have carbon/graphite core and degrades over time. http://www.ehow.com/how_7285852_check-plug-wires-multimeter.html
