What engine in this Vehicle? Does the transmission shift correctly as you are driving? Does the ODOMETER display the mileage as you are driving?

Suggest you call up a few auto parts stores and ask if they will scan your computers for trouble codes.

21,330

Do you remember what codes were displayed? Did these various repair places have an opinion on what was causing the issues on this vehicle?

no opinions from auto places,, but dealership found:U0100,U0073,C1241 BATTERY TESTED BAD NEEDS NEW BATTERY AND ZERO POINT CALIBRATION . but I had a battery terminal test it Saturday and battery fine, sad amps im assuming drop little but not much while air is on while car idling,,, one garage said maybe computer going out,,

Based on the trouble codes and symptoms you cited...my guess you have a bad Skid Control..ABS Control unit. Common problem with this year Camry. Try disconnecting the electrical connector on this unit and clean with Electrical Cleaner. Reattach by firmly pushing connector back in place. If problem temporarily goes away...there is a faulty connection inside that unit. If you Google your make model year...there is info on this issue. Get back to us with updates on this issue.

my husband tried cleaning the part you said the lights and etc, did not come on all day yesterday then started again this morning,

Ok...well sounds like that ABS Skid Control Computer unit is malfunctioning. You might consider shopping around to various repair facilities for a price and repair. Some folks have had some luck in repairing the faulty circuit board in that computer. Let us know what happens next.

ok, I took my car back to dealership ,, and their saying it is the abs actuator, what is that if I were to shop around for part?

21,330

Sounds like the Unit...Computer I was referring to above. I am afraid this repair will be a Little expensive. You might consider a second opinion from another shop.

Toyotakiki......did you ever find the fix for this vehicle?

i took it back to the dealership again for free this time and it showed I need a ABS Actuator

21,330

Ok....well sounds like they are confirming what we suspect is correct. Got to replace that part for a final fix. Let us know if indeed that repair solves this issue. Good luck.

Toyotakiki I'm having the same problems with my Toyota that you had with yours about the ABS light and the brake light coming on then air conditioner stopped working you said that they told you to get a ABS actuator I was just checking to see if your car is running fine now after you had that put in because that's what they're telling me I need. Thank you

toyotakiki how much did it cost you to repair the ABS actuator? My 2007 Camry is doing the same thing. Brake/Abs lights come on while driving, speedometer foes down to zero and RPM needle goes crazy. I am suck and tired of this car, it's been one issue after another one.

I took it to the Toyota dealership this past Saturday and they said it is the Abs actuator and quoted me $2,600 plust tax to fix it. I had to laugh when they gave that quote, they are effing crazy! My husband went on you tube and there are several videos of people having the same issue. The solution seems very simple, even I could change that part, it's called Abs Module, it only costed us $150 on ebay motors. It should arrive here tomorrow. I'll let you know if that solves the issue. There is no freaking way i am paying almost 3K to fix it, might as well get a new car!

I seem to recall an issue with bad solder joints inside the module. I agree with your issue with Toyota. This is a rather common issue and should have been addressed with a recall. There might be a class action lawsuit filed against Toyota concerning this issue.Good luck with this repair and let us know the result.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one with this issue. Has anyone found a permanent solution? I'm just thinking about getting a new car if the repair is going to be expensive.

I had my mechanic replace the abs module with 3 different used modules from junkyards. No fix. He then took my original abs module sent it out fir repair another 10!days... came back put it in still the same. He put in a new transmission speed sensor and replaced the ECM and the problem is still present. At my wits end.... just replaced the motor last year... mikedaddybyrne

Could you provide your Make Model Year and a descripition of the issue. Did anyone scan the computers for codes?

2007 Camry le, car body has 225,000 miles on it. last year put a 2009 engine in it (w/65k miles on it). Speedometer drops to 0, tachometer goes to 0, ABS and Brake light come on, temp gauge drops to cold, AC stops blowing cold. Mechanic also tried unplugging the ABS module and all worked fine except Speedo if I recall also had no cruise control. Yes I am going back this weekend to scan again. I will repost the answer thanks.

I suspect the Speedo Cluster assembly needs to be replaced or repaired. Suggest your mechanic look up Toyota Service Bulletins pertaining to your issue.

160

U0073 ... the mechanic said it has a communication bus issue.... hard and fast now is abs and brake light stay on and the Speedo is nailed at 0, 90% of the time

Suggestion. With the ignition off. Remove and clean the electrical connector on the ABS module using an electric contact cleaner. Look into the connector and check for any damage...spreading...of the female terminals.

Hello. I finally brought it to a japeuro specialist. They replaced the abs module (electronic module only) finally with a good one. Previously my original mechanic replaced ABS 3x and had “professionally” rebuilt 1x. Also replaced the ECU twice, trans speed sensor and redid ground wires, the instrument cluster 1x. I was ready to give up. Thanks for asking. ABS electronic module won after 4-5 salvage yard attempts.

I'm glad I found this thread. I just started having the exact same problem with my 2007 Camry and will be reporting it to Toyota. I first took my vehicle to my local mechanic and he said that it looks like the problem may be the ABS module but wanted to further diagnose in hopes that he could find a less expensive problem. I then took the car to the dealership and they confirmed that it was indeed the ABS pump and the repair would be nearly $3k to fix. I was thinking of getting a new car but I decided to take it to one more shop. Once again they confirmed the same issue. They said the parts alone will cost approximately $1600. They last auto repair shop is searching for the part now. They said that if it only requires the module to be replaced and not the connectors then the repair will be a lot less.

Same issue on my Camry 2007. ABS light is on, speedo and other gauges (except for the gas) go down to 0. AC goes to blower mode. A bandaid trick I do is activate the highbeam and everything goes back to normal, but only for a while. Good to know that I am not the only one who has this problem. Will have to bring this to the car guys to have it checked. At least I have background on what could be the faulty part.

The High Beam Trick.......excellent. Let us know when this issue is resolved. Thanks for your input.

I have a 2008 Camry with 168K and the usual instrument cluster symptoms. Replaced the ABS module myself (very easy) with a rebuilt one from Module Repair Pro for about $200. https://www.ebay.com/usr/modulerepair?_trksid=p2047675.l2559. Saved thousands and my instrument cluster is back to normal

Just a different note on my 07 Toyota Camry 4cly is that my A/C works fine, other then that is the same symptoms. Please advise of any other solution.

I have a 2007 camry LE that started with abs light and brake light coming on and off for a week or so. Then the 2nd week, itll come on and sometimes it stay lit for a few mins and goes off. Then I started noticing my battery light coming on and off when the abs light comes on. Then last week I started noticing when the abs light comes on my ac will stop blowing cold air. Just this week my battery light came on and will stay lit for a few mins then goes off. Then when I got off work, I noticed that when I turned on my AC, all the lights started flickering and my temperature gauge and speedometer gauge will go crazy, but as soon as I turn off the ac, it stop. So, I got home and tested it, I turn on my ac and everything went crazy. I turn it off and it was ok. I turn on the ac again and my car die. Sounded like the battery. My son was able start the car by jumping the car battery. Does the abs module drain the battery and alternator?

I was just driving day before yesterday and the speedometer cut out at 70mph. Never saw anything like it. Took it in and it was a bad abs control module. Toyota wanted $1500 for the part plus labor. I asked a local cat shop and they wanted $1400. I ended up buying a rebuilt dorman module from O'Reilly (out of stock on Rock Auto). $700 after core return and tax. Took about 5 minutes to replace. 4x 4mm bolts. 2007 Camry LE 3.5 V6. 137k miles.

I've been having this problem in my 2007 Camry SE 4 Cylinder for about 5 years now. I found a trick in a car forum discussion on this topic that has mostly worked for me. The trick is to wedge something hard, like some rubber or a small rock, between the ABS module and the connector(it has to be wedged in there very tightly, or carefully hammered in). This didn't completely fix anything, and I had to keep wedging it in until I finally got a rock that was perfectly snug lol. My AC problem went away for a couple of years after doing this, but the speedometer issue was still there but was less frequent for a while. That being said, my AC started getting warm again in the past couple of weeks after it not being an issue for a couple of years, so I will be trying to make the connection tighter again with another rock...

...oh, and another comment on this issue, since I can't seem to edit my previous comment. I found out that the odometer does not record the mileage when the speedometer isn't working. So my car does not show the true mileage (it's probably showing at least 50,000 miles less than actual lol) I don't know who would want to buy a used car with unknown mileage (or who would accept it on a trade in ), not to mention the rest of these electrical issues. Other than this one(very bad) issue, my car has been great and extremely reliable.

I had the same issues noted above...abs light on, rpm meter going crazy, speedometer at 0, etc. Mechanics couldnt figure it out as there were no error codes produced. Based on internet research i assumed it was the abs sensor module. There is a good youtube video on how to remove it and reinstall it. I sent my module to Module Master in Moscow, Idaho and they rebuilt it for about $250. I put the rebuilt sensor module in the car and now it is working fine.

2007 Toyota Camry LE started up with the same issues. Purchased a refurbished ABS module from RockAuto and installed it just like the Youtube videos. I also noticed the connecter to the ABS module was not sturdy even after you locked it in place. So maybe the issue is the ABS connector because its old and warn out (Maybe just mine). I did something like what CamryOwner26 did but I used a rubber plastic grommet and fit it snug between the connector and housing... so far its been month an no issues. I hope it stays that way.

This is super cool cause me and my dad just bought a car with this exact same problem. Turns out it was just in need of a replacement abs module. I don't know about your ac, but replacing the abs module fixed all the other issues you listed for me. Here's a link to a video that explains the issue. http://adfoc.us/56345877008405

Hello. I had a similar problem with my 2008 Camry today. ABS and brake lights come on and off. Temperature gauge drops to "Cold" and then goes back to normal. Computer shows error code U0073. Read about it and found out the problem is in the ABS unit. Looking for services to repair the ABS module. Judging by the reviews, Repair Laboratory is good. I will try to order the repair from them. I'll let you know how it goes.

35

Update. The module was repaired quickly. It all took a week. I got my module back the day before yesterday. Installed it and now my camry is come back. Good service. Recommend!

Wedge a tiny rock, credit card, or coin exactly as shown. The issue will to away instantly.

@Matt same issues. Stuck a screwdriver in that area and the abs and brake light turned right off. The connector is bad. Have replaced the abs actuator module three times. The last time did not correct. Took apart the connector and it is loose. With all this being said, found solution by putting a tile wedge into the space and tightening with zip tie. lol.

Also, for anyone who wants to try the salvage yards,, LKQ Pick Your Parts has 2009 Camry’s that you can find parts on such as the connector, harness wiring and abs actuator module. (Nationwide salvage yard). The above mentioned fix with tile wedge was done on a 2009 Toyota Camry SE with roughly 220k miles.

2007 camry SE V6 i bought an abs sensor from a local junk yard. the abs sensor and abs block came from a 2007 camry lse V6. turns out the lse abs sensor was different than my se. symptoms for my camry are the same as every one on this thread: abs light, speed off, tack off, temp off, ac blows warm air. i see the two photos recently posted which looks like my abs sensor. i'm wondering if the issue is with the type of bosch sensor i have and not the one that came from the lse. the lse sensor and block won't work with my se because the harness connection is different and the module is of a different size. i'll try and post photos of the two different types tomorrow

I have a similar issue on my Camry 2009. Whenever I engage Beam light, my ABS+BRAKE lit on and my Speedometer needle goes to zero for a sub-second. My RPM and temperature needle aren't affected however.

Just found this post now that I'm starting to have issues with my Toyota Camry 2007 XLE (252,000 miles). I've had this car since 2007 and never gave me problems until recently. I had the catalytic converter replaced this Jan 2023, and just a week ago with this same problem (ABS and brake light on, rpm needle going crazy, speedometer at zero, AC blowing warm. It comes on and off while driving bit it does it more when I initially start the car and start driving. After reading this maybe I will have an easier time getting it solved instead of "guessing" if computer codes are not existing. My mechanic checked it but didn't tell me about any codes.
