Had the same issue with my 88 k5. Turns out that one of the ground cables was not connected inside the plastic that protects it. I didn't notice it at first because all the connections were tight. But the wire was not connected to its lead. Feel your wires for brakes inside the plastic. Clean the connections. Check the wires going to your starter as well. Sometimes they ground out to the exhaust pipe. And occasionally the posts that go into the solenoid ontop of the starter get loose. I have had all three of these issues at on point or another and all were hard to find but ready to fix.
