replaced my transmission.  How many
quarts a fluid do I need to have  for the
transmission and tork converters

Around 11quarts, buy 12 and fill till full. Make sure your on level ground, and move the shifter through the gears when checking the level. Don't add all at one time, you don't want too much in.

I'd put about 6 quarts in and briefly start the engine, shut it off and add about 3 more quarts and start and shift through the gears then fill as necessary. I agree with Tim in that it will hold between 11 and 12 quarts.
