350 not starting

Asked by Chandler1990 Mar 21, 2018 at 11:57 PM about the 1991 Chevrolet C/K 2500 Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 91 chevy pick up, it's been running good until
one day it decided to act like it was running out of
fuel, and died. Checked fuel, checked spark, and
now I have checked time. The #1 cylinder at top
dead center lines up with the mark on the balancer.
But at top dead center the rotor is pointing and the
# 2 to # 4 cylinder. I'm at a loss for what could be
wrong. Can someone point me on the right
direction? Also it has back fired through the throttle
body a couple of times after it had stalled out

I think you should get a timing light or pull the timing cover to see if the chain slipped/jumped teeth

, " [ timing light ] " , and turning the distributor will probably screw things up more , the nut is probably tighter than $h!t , the timing is probably set by the computer and the crank and cam sensors have to be synced turning the distributor will throw them off
