Right side cv axle on 98 Buick riviera

Asked by Antoine Apr 20, 2016 at 07:23 PM about the 1998 Buick Riviera Supercharged Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Please I've been fighting with this for
months now I need someone if anybody
can help. I have a 98 Buick riviera. The cv
axle broke on me. But I have bought three
different ones two different sizes and they
all will not go all the way in. They continue
to hit this black bar in my transmission.
From that bar out is only 2-15/16" but
every shaft I get is 3-1/4 or longer. Can
someone please help

Obviously something is amiss. Be it the original parts have been exchanged or the incorrect VIN was provided when ordering..(My opinion however.) But when ordering the part if the VIN was provided and you have not been successful,. then I strongly suggest that you located a savage yard that would have your yr. vehicle and get the part needed. Lastly could it be by chance the gears within the trans have been moved preventing the cv from going into place? Good luck and do let us know when the problem(s) been corrected.
