Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 'mechanic' stated I needed to change the Coolant Reservoir on my
1999 Buick Regal GS (Supercharged,) as he says there is a 'float' in the
rear of the overflow tank that sticks after awhile.  I don't have an issue
doing that, but as I've researched the issue of the low coolant light staying
on, all info seems to say to change the sensor on the radiator itself and no
one speaks about the overflow tank with a 'float' inside???
Someone please tell me which direction to go.

I have the identical car that you do a 1997 Buick Regal GS supercharged V6 3800 series motor and my low coolant light comes on out of nowhere and turns right off it makes no sense at all because I even dumped out all of the coolant that was in the reserve and the only thing I seen was that the tube had fell into the radiator Reserve so I dumped it out and replace the fluid and put a zip tie around the tube so that it won't come off again and now it's still is coming on I even fill the radiator directly with fluid I have zero leaks so I think it is just the sensor on the actual radiator for air pockets
