I have a 1998 Buick Regal LS 3.8 when I turn the fog lights on they will stay on for a while and then they will go off

That could be complicated.....good chance it is the headlight switch itself. The complication is the lights are working with the BCM (body control module "computer") the BCM will not allow the fog lamps to be on when the brights are on, so the BCM has some control over the fog lamps. However if the headlight switch is defective and sending a signal to the BCM the the brights are on the BCM turns off the fog lights. Don't you love newer cars......just wait until they drive themselves, who know where they will take you.
