You might have a broken belt in the tape player...these things are always trouble, because they make the belts from cheap butyl rubber rather than something like kapton that can take the years without succumbing to the destructive powers of UV and shrinking or expanding until not doing it's job properly...if you really wanted to fix it, you'd take it out of the dash and to a old-time cassette repairman....there is a chance that it is an anomaly...take your shopvac with the narrow focus tool and suck the cassette out of there- restart and see if a different cassette also induces the E13----replace it with a JVC~

Thanks for trying. When the cassette is inserted it drops in, the drive wheel and tape head engages. This time the spools didn't engage they're on top. When eject is pressed, the head will not retract to allow the carriage to raise and eject cassette.
