My 2000 LaSabre Speedometer was reading 80mph but I was only going around 50mph. I called several garages and they all said it was the sensor and gave me prices to fix it in the hundreds$$! A friend who is a mechanic brought his diagnostic tester over and then took the car for a drive. He came back looking very somber and said the switch that changes the so speedometer from mph to kilometers had been turned. He put it back to mph....no charge and problem solved

Same thing happened to me. We just pushed the "engine meter" button and it went right back to where it should have been.

ENG/MET is not "Engine Meter" it is English / Metric or Miles vs Kilometres
