I have a 2002 Buick Century Custom and there is a constant dinging but only when the car is started and not in park, possibilities?

Question type: General

The car only starts dinging after its been turned on and taken out of park, it's
not the doors or trunk, not the seatbelts, I have no idea what the problem
could be.

It's possible you could have your parking brake engaged by one notch...not enough to activate any braking, but enough for the car to recognize it's engaged and to alert you when you put it in gear. Try pressing the pedal all the way down to release it completely, and see if that fixes it.

It shut off just yesterday but at the same time the brake light had also shut off, so I'm assuming that is the problem.
