My 2005 Town and country feels like it wants to stall when in drive

Asked by bradyem Jan 04, 2015 at 03:50 PM about the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country LX LWB FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had to jump start my car bc it was so cold the battery wouldn't start.  It was
stuck at my parents house for almost a week.  Since then when stopped in drive it feels
like it's going to stall.  I also noticed when I was accelerating it jumped to 5 and I tapped
the brakes on to get it to go down ...

hi i think what happened is that you have a dirty throttle body and IAC motor ( idle air control) your battery went dead and when it did it reset all the adaptive memory of the sensors and reset them to a set value...// your IAC motor opens and closes to allow more or less air in for certain loads like A/C and it may be stuck and not opening enough ...so when you stop at a light and the throttle blade shuts closed the IAC motor opens so it does not stall the same can be said for it getting stuck open and making the rpm shot way up...you can take the boot off and take a rag and open up the throttle (engine off) and wipe it clean and see if that helps
