water pump and stuff

Asked by md37421 Sep 14, 2016 at 06:04 AM about the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got my 2006 pt cruiser Aug. 2015.  A wk later
the control panel on driver's side broke, it was
replaced twice.  About a month later my mirror
fell off while driving.   March 2016 the window
went down and wouldn't go up.  A wk after that,
the lights on the inside dash went out.  Two
months later it started leaking antifreeze.   I
tried for 3-4 months to find some to work on it,
no luck.  I finally find someone,  had car towed
there.  He calls me later and says they won't
work on it, take it back to CARMAX,  they
should not have caught the problem before it
went on the lot.  I got there and they show me a
small hole the water is coming out of during a
pressure test.  I go to CARMAX,  and they speak
with the guy,  they have the car towed there,
they do diagnostics.  CARMAX tells me there
don't see a hole except the one that's supposed
to be there, you can't tell if there's a problem
with the water pump until it goes out, they did
nothing wrong, it wasn't time to replace water
pump or timing belt, they guy at the other told
them he had no one to do the work,  trying to
discredit this man and his shop.  The other
mechanic has nothing to lose or gain by telling
me this.  He could have worked on the car and
took my money, he could have said he did the
work and took my money, he could have said o
can't do the work, he didn't have to point the
finger at CARMAX.  The car has about 80k
miles now, it had about 70k when I bought it.
Who should I believe CARMAX who's trying to
get out of admitting or accepting blame, or this
other mechanic who has no interest one way or
the other.   I have to figure out my next move.
HELP!! Please someone help me.

it will be hard for us to help you- you have dug yourself into a hole- you bought a car from carmax which is a mistake, you bought a 21st Century Chrysler product which is a mistake, and you are trying to fly on a budget now, which is always a mistake- what to do now? try to get carmax to take the car back and give you another one (which they probably won't do, understand that they deal with this ALL the time) or just bite the bullet, take out a loan and get the car repaired to where it will run reliably- don't worry about the cosmetic stuff-
