Mice can get into the smallest of holes.

Any little hole that can find they will get in, and heaters is usually where they die and make your can unbearable for at a minimum of 3 weeks, no easy solution if you think is in the heater, I had a van once that it took all summer for the smell to finally disapate, never did find a carcass. Good luck.

Sticky traps, check for the caught ones everyday.

Try looking in the engine bay inside the air filter, barring that then tennisshoes would be the next solution.
