Air conditioner: Cold lines, but warm air

Asked by PeterPtee Feb 22, 2014 at 12:54 PM about the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The air conditioning on my 2006 PT Cruiser is acting funny.  The line off the condenser is ice cold like it should be, but the air blowing out the vents is not cool at all.  It's blowing plenty of air, just not cold air.  What might be going on here?

Orfice tube, or expansion block needs replaced both are in same spot follow the lines to the fire wall pass side you will see a silver block w a wire connection. Expansion block. If you are not familiar w a/c this is NOT a job for you as serious personal injury can result (frostbite) suffocation from the gas in a enclosed setting. Not to mention the pag oil will make a ginormous mess.

I also have a 2007 PT cruiser and mine does the same thing. We just had the blower motor replaced and all the hoses replaced. The levels are still the same for the refrigerant and the coolant. Idk what it could be except for the compressor? Maybe? Does this sound right? The air worked for two days and then it went out. Any ideas?

Check that you don't need a new pressure valve. May just be a $20 part. Saw that fix on youtube. If valve doesn't rattle it needs replacing. Definitely Fit.

Make sure low speed on the electric fan is on when the ac is running, if not that will cause it not to blow cold.
