throttle body sensor

Asked by GuruLNW9J Apr 13, 2019 at 10:16 PM about the 2007 Saturn ION 2 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can the sensor be replaced on the 2007 Ion sedan or does the whole throttle
body need to be replaced?

Has no one seen the question, or doesn't anyone know? I was told that the whole throttle body had to be replaced, yet I can find just the sensor, but maybe not specifically for 2007 Ion. Can anyone help? Many thanks!!

the 2007 ion doesn’t have a throttle body position sensor, it runs in a throttle by wire system. So if the code you are getting is for a throttle body position sensor then the thing that actually needs to be replaced is the accelerator pedal position sensor which is attached to the gas pedal (that whole thing would need replaced) but if the code is for your throttle body itself then that might need to be replaced. I’m not a a car expert but I just had this issue myself and spent a lot of time researching and talking with the people and my local auto parts store and on a Saturn forum and tutorial videos can be your friend. I hope you already got this resolved though.

I called a GM dealer and they told me that 05- 07 do not have the sensor, you need to replace the whole body and I also need I think because of research and symptoms, a idle air control valve but my car doesn't have one, it's something janky that Saturn did
