3.5 V6 does not reach redline

Asked by Jan 29, 2017 at 04:34 PM about the 2007 Saturn VUE Base V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving the vehicle in a spirited manner, I've noticed that it never gets
anywhere near the indicated 6500 rpm redline in 1st or 2nd gear. I'm not sure if
it's an engine problem or a transmission problem or a me problem. Any help
would be appreciated, thanks.

Most modern vehicles have a rev limiter built into the computer program. The computer won't allow you to rev the engine beyond a certain point to prevent engine damage. HTH. - Jim
