The starter may not be lined up, you can get some starter shims from the parts store and try out.

Okay what about my original starter. There was nothing wrong with it, and it did the same thing. The truck was going up a hill and cut off and started this

Well then that points to different problem. I need better detail on what you say the thud and locking up, and crank pulley still spinning. Is it turning over slowly, or making a bad sound. May be the flex plate is cracked?

When it does turn, it's slow, but most of the time it seems like it's bout to turn aNd then clunk and nothing. And its killing, battery quick. It has almost crunk up. A couple times and then it won't do shit but make a clunk noice

I think you may have a cracked, bad flex plate. I should ask first if this is an automatic transmission.

Yes 4 wheeler

4 Wheel drive

Do you have to manually shift to each gear or do you just put it in drive and go.

Just put it in drive

Ok then, like I was saying, I think you have a cracked flex plate that would be causing vibration, and binding up the starter. You would have to have someone who knows what there looking at to determine if it is the flex plate.

Do you know where it would be located

Yes, if you take the starter out then you can see part of it. It is mounted on the back of the engine, covered by a bell housing which the transmission connects to, so in-order to get at it, either the engine would have to be pulled, or the transmission dropped out of it.
